Film Noir / Old Hollywood Glamour- a personal project

Updated: Nov 6, 2020

I love old movies! And, I love old movie star portraits! The 1940's was a great era for mysteries and drama, and for movie studio photographers! These studio portraitists were charged with making all the stars look like perfect goddesses of the silver screen.

A few days ago, I posted on my Instagram that I wanted to do a night time outdoor shoot in my neighborhood. There's so many places within walking distance that just has that "film noir" look, and I just wanted to get creative! I used to do a lot of Old Hollywood Glamour for my clients. But, not so much lately. So, I just wanted to revisit this style that I missed so much. My friend and frequent collaborator, Mizon Garde offered to be my model for this project! Mizon always brings something extra to the shoot. This time, attitude and the costumes were key to the success of the shoot!

I wanted the results to be a combination of Old Hollywood studio portraits, and Film Noir. The outdoor images were meant to look like they were frames of film pulled right out of an old movie.

I won't bore you with too many words- this is a photo essay, after all!

All of these images (and a few hundred others) were photographed over about a 2 hour period.

So, that's all. I just wanted to share! If you want to add something like this to your shoot, please do not hesitate to ask!
