Of course!! I mean seriously, most women have never done a Boudoir Session before! So nearly every client I photograph is new to this!

As a beginner, what should I know?

Well, choose a photographer that makes you feel comfortable. Generally, this means someone with more experience. Helping a woman relax and feel comfortable in a session is KEY to a successful session. New photographers rarely have this part down. Don't just communicate via email or text. you'll NEVER get a sense of their personality until you actually speak to them. In my opinion, this is where a actual phone conversation is required! Personality plays such an essential role in your comfort level, and the outcome of your session. Conversation should flow naturally, and the photographer should ask you a lot of questions, to get to know you, and what you're looking for.

Take the time to familiarize yourself with their work. Do you like color or black and white? Bright and cheery kinds or images, or more romantic and mysterious? Me- I LOVE Black & White. It's timeless, it's classy, and looks like ART! Of course I shoot in color, and you'll love those, but I'll often suggest which kinds of images will lend themselves to am artsy B&W look. READ what other clients have to say. What past clients have to say about their own experience with a particular studio speaks volumes more than what the photographer can say about themselves. Look for certain words and phrases like "he made me feel so comfortable" and things of that nature. Check out my "RAVES PAGE" to see what I mean.

Does the photographer offer some sort of Prep Guide or checklist to help you get prepared in advance of the day? I've created a wonderful Prep and Lingerie Guide that walks you through selecting the correct outfits to flatter your shape, but also full of quick tips of hair and even manicures. This is a goldmine of info for someone that's never done a photoshoot before. I even written a book called "The Boudoir Experience: What To Expect and How To Prepare For It"- if you'd like to receive a copy, just email me or use the contact form on any page of my website and request it. It's free of charge and FULL of useful information! Be on the lookout for part 2, coming out soon!
